Reeven Okeanos RC-1402 CPU Cooler Review

Admin Cooling 1310

On to the shiny base plate and it is shiny. This has the usual manufacturing marks that we see on coolers these days. Some have them, some don’t. In testing it doesn’t really seem to make a difference any more, for the well designed coolers that is.

The fans next, one 120mm and one 140mm is a good idea. We didn’t position the 120mm fan at any particular height before installing. We can gauge the memory compatibility issues from there and adjust if needed.

Assembled the CPU cooler looks good, though the yellow may not be to everyone’s taste. In the flesh, it’s not too bright or garish, it’s a more subtle yellow.

Installation

Reeven uses their typical mounting technology for the Okeanos 1402 and on the Asus Rampage V Extreme it works well. No real issues or problems to report.

Once installed you shouldn’t have any memory compatibility issues if you are using standard RAM, or even RAM with a higher profile. Taller RAM may cause an issue, but the 120mm fan has a lot of adjustment in it due to the height of the cooler. Apart from a good fit, nothing to report. Reeven has a fan install guide just for this cooler here.

Another recommended cooler, it's getting tough to pick between them these days. What does this CPU cooler mean to the market and to the enthusiast that will make the difference? Well, it's a relatively new name on the market for flagship coolers. The design may be more appealing and the detail may work for your system.
