Reeven Steropes RC-1206b CPU Cooler Review

Admin Cooling 1131

Reeven is a newly established international manufacturer of PC related products. Their range includes CPU coolers, Cooling Fans, PC chassis amongst other things. They are aiming their products at the professional quality market, which is always a big claim for a newcomer.

The Reeven Steropes RC-1206b isn’t aimed at your Haswell-E mob, you would need a serious head check-up if you tried. Instead this is a low profile for the rest of the mainstream CPU range. This one may be of particular interest to the server and HTPC communities. It’s a low profile, large fan cooler, designed to get into small and square places without any complicated memory to deal with.

It’s fair to say these coolers, and systems are always a compromise, but manufacturers like Reeven always try to design out the compromises for the best product possible. It doesn’t always work, and sometimes it does, let’s find out which one this is.

The Steropes comes in a compact box, everything is neat and tidy. The obvious thing about the cooler is the colour of the fan, it may not be to everyone’s taste but we like it. It stands out if you want to see it, but most of the time it will be hidden anyway.

The cooler is socket 1151 ready and we will be testing the Steropes on this platform.

The cooler has a very nice satin metal finish on the fins and an overall quality feel to the cooler. There are the usual mounting parts and thermal paste, allowing AMD and Intel installations.

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cooler, and in fact in HTPC, server or normal builds. If you have a small chassis, the Thermaltake Core V1 mITX chassis for example, this is going to be a perfect partner and coupled with the Intel i7-6700K, it shouldn't give you too many headaches, if any at all.
