A recent online consumer survey examining gaming systems and storage, commissioned by data giant Western Digital with polling agency YouGov, interestingly found that the biggest frustrations that gamers experience with their systems are related to storage and loading times.

The biggest gamers’ frustrations were revealed to be, having to delete games to store new ones (14%), while a further 10% cited the amount of storage games take up as one of their biggest dissatisfactions. These frustrations are only set to increase once the next gen consoles are released which will feature even less storage capacity than their predecessors.

In addition, 22% of respondents flagged loading times as their main irritation. This breaks down as 8% who felt frustrated by the loading times required to download any video game and 14% of respondents expressed frustration at the loading time required for game updates.

More than a third of those surveyed (36%) even said they have already deleted games due to lack of storage space when they wanted to add new ones. An easy solution to this problem is purchasing additional storage, but 25% admitted they have had to delete game(s) to make space – but never actually bought additional storage.

When in the market for a new storage solution, the main attributes respondents looked for out of our options were speed of download (20%), capacity (36%), and value for money (43%).
