Lian-Li PC-K5WX Ebonsteel Mid Tower Chassis Review

On the rear the same applies. Downsides are a lack of depth between the side panel and the motherboard tray, however, if you remember the side panel has a step to it, that will help with some cabling. The Thermaltake PSU we used is semi-modular and had flat cabling, this helped a lot.

The main issue we had was the storage cabling, power and data connectors. You’ll need to be a little firmer with the cable bending in this area, or use right angle and softer types of cable. Our SATA cables are pretty stiff hence the issues observed.

Everything fitted well and due to the lower weight of the chassis, it was easy to handle when putting it together. The motherboard headers are pre-installed and not removable as with some chassis. Clearance to the top panel fan section is ok, perfect for an AIO cooler which would help to clear up some space inside the motherboard area if required.

This chassis is suited to first time builds, or even if you are a parent building a first time system for your children. It’s also a good LAN party chassis, and carries the Lian-Li name, that’ll carry some weight on its own. If you want to have decent chassis for your first build or the other situations we have mentioned, the Lian-Li PC-K5WX is definitely worth a consideration.
