Cryorig A-Series A40 AIO CPU Cooler Review

Overclocking next, and we pushed all samples to 4.4Ghz, an 800Mhz overclock from stock. The Cryorig A40 returns a solid second place again, remember, this is a smaller cooler, so what is making the difference here? Without a heat camera, we could speculate the third fan is making a difference, there may be just enough of an edge taken off that the heat doesn’t build up? Cryorig A40 OC Temps | amCharts

Overclocked sound performance lastly, and the Cryorig A40 is right in the middle of our performance charts, the “average”. Cryorig A40 OC Db | amCharts

However, coupled with the thermal performance, this is pretty good performance. It’s certainly holding its own against the bigger AIO coolers.

Conclusion

Overall impressions of the Cryorig A40 AIO CPU Cooler are excellent. We have had so many good coolers from Cryorig and yet more to come, there was a small concern this was the first sign of their creative energy waning. When you think about re-branding however, it’s never an issue for sound cards or graphics cards, they use the same PCB’s in most situations, but the individual branding and presentation speaks to the inner geek and all is forgiven.

We have something a little different however. Sure it looks like a smaller NZXT Kraken X61, but that’s not criticism, that’s an excellent cooler. So what are we left with, an excellent AIO cooler.

The third fan is worth a mention, it’s optional and we had no frustrations with it, and it’s cool, in all senses of the word. It gives the larger 280mm AIO coolers a run for their money, in fact basically beats them for the size of the product.

So if you buy this, we think you will be very happy. With the smaller size you also have a greater range of chassis you can fit this in, and the extra fan gives bragging rights if nothing else. When you read the results, the size difference must be taken into account. Maybe not for the stock results, AIO coolers will always give good results there, but in the overclocked results.

Smaller coolers will always find it harder to keep up with bigger coolers over a long run, and our stress test is a burn in for 30 minutes. That’s like some very hard core gaming, over a couple of rounds online. So this is a proven AIO cooler and definitely a recommended product.
