Reeven Euros Cooling Fan Series Review

Admin Cooling 850

Moving on to the fan blades, this is where Reeven have added a bit of extra design, though not new, aerodynamic fan additions are still not completely the mainstream yet.

Test Set Up

We used the recent Anidees AI7 Black Cube Chassis review as the test system for this fan, including the Gigabyte Z170 G1 Sniper motherboard.

We thought for while on how to test fans, despite their simple function, they can be incredibly difficult to test with a meaningful outcome that’s objective and repeatable. We have tested some fans before and after some thought we decided to use a system as the test bed and we’ll explain why. A lot of sites can get very scientific, and we love those articles. Many will construct very good test benches just for fans and you’ll get a completely repeatable and laboratory condition test, again, we think they are excellent articles.

You will find something in them that may just make the difference for you when considering your next purchase. We realised that though these tests are very valuable, they do not recreate a typical environment for a fan – a PC system. The attributes of a system are the same, the fan will need to push or pull air through a chassis, but with the added condition of components, something we think is a valuable characteristic. So, we set up the following test conditions.

  • Anidees AI7 Black Cube Chassis
    • All Front Chassis Fans removed
    • Rear Chassis Fan disabled
    • Fan Controller removed
    • Front Chassis Mesh removed

  • Gigabyte Z170 G1 Sniper
    • Test Fan Utilising System Fan Header

  • AIDA Engineer Stress test
    • All Tests selected
    • 30 Minutes duration (12 minutes data set used)

  • AIDA Engineer Stress Test Selection
    • Stress CPU
    • Stress FPU
    • Stress cache
    • Stress System Memory
    • Stress local disks
    • Stress GPU(s)

We set the motherboard fan profile to normal for all tests and we also tested the sound performance at idle and under load.

We set a baseline for the test by running the review benchmarks with one Anidees chassis fan in the front top left position (facing the front of the chassis). This was plugged in to the same motherboard system fan header.

Fans are hard to test, there are so many variables and impacting factors. Also, it's a subjective view when it comes to sound performance, and though we used a digital meter, end-user tolerance can vary. We also haven't spoken about how this fan looks, it is not the usual Reeven yellow and black, but a more anonymous colour scheme which we quite like.
