Phanteks PH-TC14S CPU Cooler Review

Introduction

We reviewed the Phanteks PH-TC12LS CPU Cooler and liked it. It has some good qualities at a good price and will give the owners of small form factor systems another good option for cooling their CPUs. We also received the Phanteks PH-TC14S CPU Cooler at the same time and have reviewed them pretty much back to back. The PH-TC14S is a completely different cooler however, not intended for small form factor systems but instead normal system application.

There is a minor difference, the PH-TC14S is designed to have zero memory compatibility issues. It also has performance specifications based on the PH-TC14PE but in a slimmer form. Also, just like the Phanteks PH-TC12LS, the PH-TC14S includes a high performance fan, the PH-F140HP PWM, which claims to have ultra-high static pressure performance amongst other things. Interestingly, the Phanteks website claims three of the PH-F140HP PWM fans can be fitted to this cooler, however we will only test with one. We appreciate the Phanteks PH-TC12LS, let’s see how the PH-TC14S gets on.

The Phanteks PH-TC14S is ready to go out of the box. It’s well presented and includes the usual accessories, a tube of thermal paste and several sets of glossy instructions. Both Intel and AMD CPUs are supported. The PH-TC14S is designed to be compatible with all memory heights and we can see why. The black finish feels high quality, just like the Phanteks PH-TC12LS.

For a single fan cooler it is a little more forgivable to get a little warmer than some of the bigger dual fan coolers, especially under overclocking load conditions for example. The performance of the Phanteks PH-TC14S is definitely there though, a custom fan profile and maybe a second fan if you have the headers and don't mind the extra airflow,  you will have a capable cooler that looks the part too.
