Important numbers are 535 MB/s Read / 450 MB/s Write base performance figures from Crucial, looks like we are right on the money.

Next, IO Meter IOPS. For all of the IOMeter tests we ran the following set up,

  • Full Random
  • 20Gb test file
  • 30 minute per test
  • 10 second warm up

IOPS is lower than expected, though we only tested the smaller files sizes, something all SSDs struggle with.

Results for MB/s are more encouraging however, with a significant jump between the 4Kb and 16Kb test results, it’s a good set of results from the very start.

The trend continues with a substantial 506Mb/s for 256Kb file sizes.

A nice release all round, if you don't want to feel like you are on a budget for performance, have a look at the BX range from Crucial. There are a couple of differences such as missing hardware encryption, so be sure you read the specifications before you purchase. We don't think you will be disappointed if you do.
