Asus GeForce RTX 2080 DUAL OC Graphics Card Review

10th June 2019 1049 8 Like

Graphics, graphics, graphics! If it wasn't for the humble graphics card and the pursuit of improved gaming visuals, we probably would be playing board games. Instead, since the concept and initial applications of a graphical interface and "moving pictures" in electronic games began, the consumers demanded more, and in general the engineers in the respective hardware and software companies have tried to deliver. Fast forward to 2019 and finally in consumer game titles and graphics hardware, here is a mainstream attempt at Ray Tracing, a long standing visual effects promise that's just about to come true.

Metallicgear Neo Micro ATX Mid-Tower Chassis Review

30th April 2019 1070 Like

MetallicGear is a sub-brand of Phanteks so you may have heard of them, but you'll most likely know Phanteks. Sub-brands are popular for a number of reasons, including expanding a market share, breaking out of a stereotype, research and development, or possibly an acquisition. Phanteks are an award-winning company so they will know a thing or two about design and what a good chassis looks like.

Palit GeForce GTX 1070 Ti JetStream Graphics Card Review

18th September 2018 686 Like

It's the end of an era..... or is it? Well, yes it is, the dawn of the new Nvidia RTX GPU bringing ray tracing to the masses, it has to be seen as a milestone in the computing and GPU world. Just like the features we take for granted, such as transform and light technology, the RTX technology signifies the start of a new generation of features and we should be excited.

Anidees AI5S Windowed Mid-Tower Chassis Review

25th June 2017 494 Like

We’ve had a couple of Anidees chassis here at Hardwareslave for review in the past, and we really liked them. We are not just saying that because we receive review samples, but because of a couple of reasons, one of which is specific to the chassis we are reviewing today. Firstly, Anidees actively listen to feedback from enthusiasts, so, your idea may end up in a future product. Secondly, the AI5S chassis is a good example of the types of design they release. There’s no optical bay, so no cluttered front panel, and there isn’t even a space for it behind the front panel, so the chassis can fill itself with more important things, like radiators, fans, and high-end components.

Lian Li Pitstop PC-T60A Open Air Test Bench Review

5th October 2016 723 Like

We’ve got a few semi-dedicated test systems in the office and a dedicated test bench, the MicroCool Banchetto 101 chassis. So, we swap components a lot if we want to use the Banchetto 101 chassis for any sort of sustained testing, like motherboard reviews. We have been finding a need for a completely dedicated test bench, enter the Lian Li Pitstop PC-T60A. Smaller than the Banchetto 101 chassis and only supporting mATX/ATX motherboards but supporting the same idea, an open air, configuration and accessible test chassis, designed for people who will always be swapping, testing and running PC components.

Lian-Li PC-K5WX Ebonsteel Mid Tower Chassis Review

1st October 2016 592 Like

We have a couple of Lian-Li chassis to review over the next week and they are both very different. Coming shortly, we’ll have the PC-T60 Test Bench which is a typical Lian-Li chassis, at least in materials used. In today’s review, we will concentrate on the Lian-Li PC-K5 Ebonsteel Mid Tower chassis, which is a very different Lian-Li chassis when compared to the history of their chassis releases, it’s an all steel chassis, for the first time. Lian-Li are not scrapping their aluminium range and going for steel materials, but instead aiming this steel range of chassis at budget system builders, even Lian-Li’s information on this series states “Steel Cases, Lian Li Quality, Excellent Value”.

We haven’t reviewed an Aerocool chassis in some time, and we had a favourable experience with their products in the past, so we were happy to receive the Aerocool X-Predator II full tower chassis for review. The Aerocool X-Predator II is a large chassis, it’s also going to accommodate the E-ATX motherboards out there, such as the Asus Rampage Extreme V for example.

Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 480 8Gb Graphics Card Review

27th July 2016 1259 Like

Cast your mind back to the last couple of major AMD GPU releases, the Fiji range, and branded as the Fury range. Other than the interesting cooling setups and the fantastic glimpse into the future with HBM memory, the range had a couple of downfalls. For us, the lack of HDMI 2.0 forcing non DisplayPort users to 30Hz at UHD resolutions was a big issue. Also, other launch issues such as the failing cooler pump on the Fury X, which affected us as well, and a lock down on the reference boards with AMD basically manufacturing all the boards for the brand partners, at least for the Nano and Fury X. All of these just seemed to take the edge off the Fiji range.

With all the fanfare around the AMD Radeon RX 480 release and the driver and power issues, we have put our review on the back burner in anticipation of the new drivers which resolve these issues. They have arrived so we’ll get that posted as soon as possible, but in the meantime we have something a little different, the Sapphire ITX Compact Radeon R9 380 graphics card.

Anidees AI7 Black Cube Chassis Review

27th June 2016 494 Like

We reviewed the Anidees AI8 last week and it’s a stellar chassis, excellent for water cooling or anything else you want to put into an unobstructed internal space. Also, what looks to be a genuine principle of end-user feedback to help and evolve Anidees product range, means if you pick these guys up and become a brand fan, you may end up with some class leading products in the not too distant future.

Anidees AI8 Black Window Chassis Review

You may have seen it all before, but if you haven’t, there are a lot of computer chassis out there, so which one do you pick? Firstly, you need to forget about your mates, or the flamers and trollers. For the latter groups, they are right about everything, so no matter what you do, it’s wrong. So where does this leave you? Requirements, including budget and style preferences.

EVGA Nvidia GTX 1080 Founders Edition Graphics Card Review

12th June 2016 1239 Like

We are not sure the dust has settled around the latest Nvidia Pascal GPU architecture launch, not even the AMD's new R9 480 graphics card has managed to steal the stage entirely. We remember the original GeForce 256 which replaced the Riva TNT2 and basically started the graphics world you know today. It introduced phrases such as transform and lighting to gaming and advertisements. We loved the Riva TNT2 and Riva 128, Matrox, S3, the Voodoo 3DFX range, Rendition and giving Nvidia a run for its money over the past 17 years, ATI.
