Aerocool Aero-1000 White Chassis Review

28th June 2015 2747 Like

There are probably as many chassis designs and manufacturers out there as mice, surfaces and keyboard, so you would be forgiven if you struggle from time to time when trying to pick a new one. gone are the days of tall or small beige boxes and their horrid green or brown motherboards making PC's as interesting as keyboards used to be and not much more appealing. Now, we have the opposite situation with manufacturers catching up with modders, who to be honest, created the modern fashions along with the overclockers.

XFX Radeon R9 390X 8GB DD Black Edition Graphics Card Review

20th June 2015 3455 Like

We recently reviewed the Sapphire Radeon R9 290X Vapor-X Tri-X in preparation for the AMD Radeon R9 300 Series release and to be honest, we were a little underwhelmed by the card. Still a strong contender in the high end graphics market but in the shadow of the GTX970 from Nvidia, not to mention the GTX980 or GTX980 Ti. So a couple of days ago we tuned into the live broadcast and we got a sense of excitement from the event, it seems like AMD are really proud of the R9 300 Series release and the supporting product ranges they launched on that day.

Lexar JumpDrive M20 Mobile USB 3.0 Flash Drive Review

17th June 2015 1315 Like

We recently reviewed the Lexar Professional Workflow DD512 and liked it. Lexar fulfilled our perception of their company with the DD512 as an excellent, professional and focused product. Today we have something a little simpler and something we think a many people already have a lot of; the USB pen drive. What makes this different from your multi coloured no-name variety? Let's find out.

Sapphire Radeon R9 290X Vapor-X Tri-X Graphics Card Review

16th June 2015 2932 Like

On the eve, quite literally, of the AMD Radeon 300 Series release, we are looking at the card it is going to replace. However, the internet is full of speculation that this re-branded GPU will not be a significant enough release to justify a new generation of cards, we take a look at the R9 290X in the context of the new generation launch or whether with the pending price drops, the R9 290X is the card to get.

Lexar Professional Workflow DD512 Storage Review

2nd June 2015 1300 Like

Lexar, now owned by Crucial Technology, have been around the Personal Computers for nearly 20 years now, from a time when they probably were truly personal. So they should know a thing or two about PC users, their needs, wants and desires. Fast, small and large capacity external drives is certainly one of them and Lexar have a couple out their. Today we review the Lexar Professional Workflow DD512, aimed at the professional who uses and moves large files either on the go, or just around the office, that's all of us then!

Kingston HyperX Savage SSD 480Gb Storage Review

31st May 2015 1385 Like

Kingston have always been manufacturers of RAM memory and flash devices, and in more recent years storage manufacturers. Why, well until the advent of SSD's, Kingston did not manufacture large storage discs, in fact we don't recall them ever creating an old school HDD. Let's jump ahead and enter the HyperX Savage range, their top SSD drive in their consumer range. Taking aim at the likes of Samsung and Crucial, the HyperX Savage range has some stiff competition

Gigabyte Z97M-DS3H Motherboard Review

31st May 2015 5355 Like

Another Z97 Chipset motherboard is on the bench, and it’s another Gigabyte. The Z97 Chipset by Intel is probably the mainstay of most mainstream, desktop and gamers on a wide ranging budget. It was more a case of evolution than revolution over the Z87, refinement over sweeping changes.

Noctua NH-L9x65 low-profile CPU Cooler Review

27th May 2015 1496 Like

We have had a few Noctua coolers on the bench over the last year or so, but this low profile cooler has just been released and looks like it is making a name for itself. We have had this for a while now and have used it to test a mid range or maybe even a Server build, but certainly a set up that requires a low profile cooler.

Scythe Mugen MAX CPU Cooler Review

25th May 2015 2583 Like

We have another cooler for review and today it is a bit special (at least for me!). On the bench today is the Scythe Mugen MAX CPU Cooler, and why is that important? Well, they are a name that has been around for a very long time, and before everyone got their act together, Scythe were ahead of the game.

Gigabyte GA-Z97N GAMING-5 Motherboard Review

11th May 2015 3161 Like

We are big fans of mITX motherboards, though only in recent years. They have come a long way from their beige roots and now will tickle the geekiness of many gamers around the world. For us it’s the fact that we don’t need another big chassis in the office or in our homes, we generally have a few mITX rigs around, as daily drivers and as test machines.

Ballistix Sport LT DDR4 2400Mhz Memory Review

2nd May 2015 3207 Like

We recently review the Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 2400Mhz Memory and it scored an excellent 4.6 out of 5.0. DDR4 is still new and still exclusive to X99 Chip sets at the time of writing, so though it’s an excellent memory kit, big gains can be main when a technology is learning to walk through its initial phases of development.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Review

21st March 2015 2209 Like

Microsoft entered the laptop/tablet market a while ago with mixed success and to be honest, it was a little deserved and a very late entry to boot. Microsoft are not a new company and indeed very good at coming back from the dark side, just look at Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Noctua NH-D15 CPU Cooler Review

11th March 2015 12187 Like

Noctua call this their flagship model, their premium product, meaning you cannot buy a better air cooling Noctua product. A lofty claim if it wasn't from Noctua themselves, but basing this on their D14 means they might just know what they are talking about. The D15 in two fan configuration is around £70 in the UK currently, which is a lot of money. It means the flagship model has a flagship price, so in a world of AIO Coolers and a vast air cooler market, this thing needs to be good. Being the claimed flagship of Noctua, it needs to be even better than that too!

Crucial have recently been refreshing and extending their ranges of memory, with DDR4 and SSDs with new models such as the Crucial MX200 and BX100 SSDs. Performance, silence and low power have become the norm and unless you are wanting big storage numbers, you won’t go wrong with an SSD. Crucial have been manufacturers for years now and they have a big product catalogue to browse and now they are expanding their range even further.
