Overall Score 4.2

FLOPS next, the XFX beats the R9 290X only just and the MSI GTX970 convincingly. The MSI GTX970 is the smallest in memory size and that will hamper the overall performance in some of these tests.

Plus, with half a gigabyte gone from the promoted memory capacities, the MSI GTX970 may have a memory bottle neck hampering it.

FPS next, and the MSI GTX970 takes a rare win in the Julia test, business as usual for Mandel however.

Next we have Unigine Heaven 4.0 and the R9 390X edges ahead of both its rivals.

3DMark results next and we see the R9 390X edge ahead from it’s predecessor and the GTX970. The margins are generally small but they are still there. The R9 390X from XFX is clocked a little higher than stock and has double the R9 290X memory, so it’s not as impressive as it may seem, and we think that you wouldn’t really notice it when gaming.
